Today, during the Conference bringing together professional players from 14 countries, the awards were presented for the first edition of MAS, Mallorca Arts on Screen Festival. Organized in four categories - Opera, Theatre, Ballet, Art - they were voted by a jury of experts and by the audiences attending the screenings hosted in Palma de Mallorca between the 2 and 6 April.
Giovanni Cozzi, Director of MAS, emphasised the fact that this first edition of the Festival has succeeded in bringing to the big screen 16 productions by Europe's and the world's most prestigious cultural and artistic institutions, from the Scala Theatre to the Opera of Beijing, the Comédie Française to the Bolshoi, and the Gran Teatre Liceu to the Opéra de Paris. The film's producer and director, Patricia Wheatley, received the award assigned to "British Museum presents Hokusai", stating that the Museum is honoured to receive this acknowledgement, which recognizes the commitment to making collections and exhibitions accessible to a worldwide public. Wheatley added that, “digital cinema has proved to be an exceptional ally in achieving this objective. I trust many other spectators will take advantage of this film for learning about the life and works of Hokusai, presented in the words of keen scholars and highly effective images.”
Commenting with great satisfaction on the award to the opera “Andrea Chénier”, Rita Lombardi, of Rai Com, stated that the MAS Festival has the merit of offering an international spotlight on artistic and cultural content for the big screen. By assigning an award to the opera that opened the season at the Scala on 7 December 2017, MAS also recognizes the efforts of RAI Com, which has been bringing the best of Italian opera to the world for over ten years now.

Sono stati annunciati oggi, durante la Conferenza che ha riunito professionisti di 14 paesi, i premi della prima edizione del  MAS - Mallorca Arts on Screen Festival. Organizzati in quattro categorie - Opera, Teatro, Balletto, Arte - sono stati attribuiti da una giuria di esperti e dal pubblico che ha assistito alle proiezioni che tra il 2 e il 6 aprile sono state ospitate a Palma di Maiorca.
Giovanni Cozzi, Direttore del MAS, ha sottolineato come questa prima edizione del Festival sia riuscita a portare sul grande schermo 16 produzioni delle più prestigiose istituzioni culturali ed artistiche d'Europa e del mondo, dal Teatro alla Scala all'Opera di Pechino, dalla Comédie Française al Bolshoi, dal Gran Teatre Liceu all'Opéra de Paris.
Patricia Wheatley, in qualità di produttore e regista, ha ritirato il premio assegnato a "British Museum presents Hokusai" affermando che il Museo è onorato di ricevere questa distinzione che ne riconosce l'impegno nel rendere le collezioni e le mostre fruibili da parte del pubblico di tutto il mondo. "Il cinema digitale si è rivelato - ha aggiunto Wheatley - un eccezionale alleato per raggiungere questo obiettivo. Mi auguro che tanti altri spettatori approfitteranno di questo strumento per conoscere la vita e le opere di Hokusai, presentate attraverso le parole di appassionati esperti ed immagini di grande efficacia".
Commentando con viva soddisfazione il premio assegnato all'opera Andrea Chénier, Rita Lombardi, di Rai Com, ha affermato che il MAS Festival ha conquistato il merito di offrire una ribalta internazionale ai contenuti artistici e culturali per il grande schermo. Il MAS, premiando l'opera che aveva aperto la stagione della Scala lo scorso 7 dicembre, premia allo stesso tempo il lavoro di un'organizzazione come Rai Com che da oltre dieci anni porta il meglio della lirica italiana in tutto il mondo.
