SYNOPSIS

The film is a musical comedy based on a popular 1960s TV series. The residents spending the autumn of their days at Nurse Klivia's Rest Home are a cheerful - albeit fairly eccentric - bunch of elderly people.Much to the chagrin of their intolerably bad-tempered neighbour, Boordevol, who for years has been searching for an excuse to have the extremely beneficent institution shutdown for good. Boordevol believes he may well have achieved his aim at last when one of the home's residents - an engineer whom everyone simply calls "the crazy inventor" - manages to cause yet another explosion during one of his experiments. However, the energetic Nurse Klivia and her sprightly, closelyknit community succeed in tricking their neighbour one more time. One day, a new guest arrives at their door. Although Gerrit has a criminal record for burglary, Klivia is prepared to take him into the fold. His new fellow- residents are also most welcoming - in particular young Jet, who takes a shine to him. Then, one day, Boordevol's place is broken into and, it's not long before Gerrit is treated as the main suspect. Boordevol craftily exploits the situation to his own advantage and succeeds in having the home closed immediately. But then it transpires that Gerrit is innocent, and, instead, Nurse Klivia herself is suspected of having committed the burglary. Things don't look at all good for either her or her charges - until an old friend manages to make their nasty neighbour have a complete change of heart…
