Polleke,
a girl of 11 years, is in love with Mimoen, a Moroccan boy who lives in the
flat opposite. But his parents force him to stop seeing her because they don’t
share the same cultural background. While Polleke tries to cope with her mother
falls in love with her schoolteacher. Meanwhile Polleke’s father, Spiek, once
a free spirit and optimist, has become a homeless junkie. Polleke and Mimoen
still long for one another and start seeing each other in secret. Mimoen suggests
to Polleke that Spiek should try a detox program. After Spiek’s recovery and
the marriage of her mother and teacher, Polleke and Mimoen decide that they
will stay together.
